And One Medium With Pepperoni
- One medium is an updated version of a painting by Velázquez, Vulcan’s Forge. Velázquez’s painting is the first classical painting that I found humorous. I want to show the cornball nature of the scene, homoerotic men in bare feet in loincloths with red hot metal and sparks flying. It was an excellent study of skin tones, so I chose it. There is something wrong with my use of perspective. I noticed my mistake at the beginning of the painting and decided to leave it as it gave the painting a strange visual feel that would not exist if it had been corrected.
